An essential part of preparing for your upcoming travel assignment is fulfilling all the compliance requirements of your new facility. You will be assigned a dedicated credentialing specialist who will assist you throughout this process, providing you with all the necessary information in a centralized location. Collaborating closely with the compliance liaison at your destination, your specialist will simplify the procedure, ensure you meet all deadlines, and keep you updated with real-time facility information. Together, they will work diligently with you to ensure everything is in perfect order for your start date.
Nursing licensure in all 50 states

Where to start?
If you are currently a staff nurse, you already possess many of the prerequisites required for becoming a travel nurse. We will inform you if there are any additional requirements and assist in addressing any missing elements.
RN Degree
To qualify, you must hold a registered nurse (RN) degree, with at least an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree.
State License
You must hold a valid license in the state where you intend to work. If you're interested in working in a different state, don't worry—we can assist you with that. Further details can be found below.
NCLEX-RN Exam
Following your completion of a nursing program, you'll need to successfully pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN).
Work Experience
To become a travel nurse, you should have a minimum of one year of experience in your specialized field, preferably gained in a hospital setting. Some hospitals may have additional criteria, so it's advisable to discuss your experience level with your recruiter to find assignments that align with your qualifications.
Compliance Requirements
Once you secure an assignment, your credentialing specialist will guide you through the nursing compliance requirements that follow.
Vaccination Records & Physical Exam
Before commencing an assignment, you will be required to undergo a physical examination and provide documentation of a recent TB test and specific vaccinations. Your credentialing specialist can arrange for any essential vaccinations or laboratory tests as well as your physical examination.
Licensing
The licensing procedure varies from one state to another, and we are here to expedite the process for you. If you reside in a state that participates in nursing compact licensure, We can assist you in converting your license so you can practice in all compact states. Furthermore, our team is available to support you with nurse licensure renewals. In case your license is nearing its expiration date, they will inform you and collaborate with you to ensure it gets renewed. It's worth noting that we covers the cost of certain licenses—some are covered upfront, and for others, reimbursement is available. Feel free to inquire with your recruiter for more details.
Drug Screen & Background Check
In addition, you will be asked to undergo a drug test and a background check before your assignment begins. Typically, a drug screen is required within 30 days of the assignment's start date and annually if you remain at the same facility. Your credentialing specialist will assist you in scheduling any required appointments.
Certifications
Depending on your specialty, you may need additional certifications. Your Aya team will help you figure out what those are and work with you to you find classes in your area to complete the process.
